We had 20 volunteers out on Saturday and 16 on Sunday, resulting in most of the work being finished.
Saturday was spent mainly below the crag clearing scrub and removing saplings from the crag side of the path. Chainsaw support from Tony Flint and Paul Burroughs speeded the work up considerably and the crag looked very different by 3:30 when it began to rain.
On Sunday, Rosie and Simon from Eagletrees gave us chainsaw support and we tackled the fallen trees. We also cleared along the top of the crag.
The result is that the crag is now much more light and open which should allow the wind to do it's job in drying the rock.
At present it looks as though we've done all we can here so unless anything else comes up, we've decided to cancel the 2nd weekend of work at Harrisons planned for the 19th and 20th January. The HRMG will meet in a couple of weeks and we'll advise of any further work needed. Please pass the message on to others who may not be on the e-mail list.
Other work in the pipeline includes...
High Rocks - See News Page - The Rhodies are making their prescence felt again. We're consulting with the owner at present but hope to be able to do some work in February - probably just one day if we can get a good turnout.
Stone Farm - There is some specialist revetment work to be done.
Thanks to all who gave up their weekend and came out to help - TWMC, HRFC, CC, BMC and any unafilliated helpers.
One last thing..... Did anyone end up with an extra shovel? Mine came back from the works but wasn't in the car when I headed off home... please drop me a line if you have any info!!
Cheers,
Graham.
